Paper Animals - Katelyn Gallacher
So this week I am introducing my new art series Paper Animals. Over the next few weeks, I'm going to be creating several animals like the bird you see here. They are generally just made of cardstock, dowels, newspaper, and masking tape to get the body to form correctly.
As for me, I am still sick but finally getting better. At this very moment, I am wearing a llamacorn shirt and headed to a dance. I know, I know no the best thing to do while sick but sometimes as a college student, we just have to make a few exceptions. Stay tuned for next week!

What goes around comes around: The Flu a Memoir

So this Sunday I felt my throat start to tickle and I preemptively took medicine which if you know me, you know that I hate medicine. I know it works...I just hate it. And lo and behold I wake up sick for my first day back to school. Ugh. Yup and here I am five days later and I'm still dying. Though in all seriousness I worry more about the severe cases in California, and my heart aches for the affected families.
As for me art wise, I figured today I'd showcase some of my portfolio photography that I used for my Graphic Design portfolio book. I wanted mine to have a really cohesive feel, and it was fun using InDesign for the first time. A program that I highly recommend for anyone wanting to really control the grid of every single page.
Sorry, that's all I've got for today, I think I'm long overdue for a good Friday night nap.

Who am I, you ask?

Katelyn Gallacher Office Space
So as promised here comes my little spiffy introduction. My name is Katelyn Elizabeth Gallacher. I am currently twenty-one years old and I'm currently studying at a nearby university. I am majoring in Graphic Desing and minoring in Spanish. Though as any college student knows, that is subject to change. That's me in the photo up above. I don't always wear hats but now that its cold they have suddenly become my best friend. That little studio you see there is located at my parent's house though I don't live with them. I haven't had the time to move it elsewhere yet so when I have time I head home for a visit and some creative time.

As for what I intend to do with this blog and potentially your time. Well over the years my dream job has changed quite a bit. First I dreamed of being a ballerina, realized I had two left feet and gave up on that and then was determined to become a professional fine artist. Then in high school, I was convinced I would become a film director and producer but switched to a Graphic Designer after living in Peru for a year and a half. And I have loved every minute of my degree so far. However, now I am determined to become an installation artist. You know the people who make those crazy shop window sculptures and those giant glass piece installations. Yup, something along those lines with my own twist of course. That's the goal for now.

As for the blog, this is where I plan to showcase my project and art series that I am working on. So you can expect every Friday after next week to see photos of all the cool stuff I am doing. So welcome, I can't wait for your comments and support.

A shout out to my fellow procrastinators.

Here we are again, 2017 has just ended and a new year has begun. I'll spare you my list of resolutions since I'm sure we have plenty in common. The eating healthier, the exercising, the list goes on and I know you all feel me. And in only a week I'll be starting another semester at college and honestly, I'm excited. (Gasp...yes I do in fact love school.) I love learning something new, and often times school is the best way to do so. However, I want this year to be different. While my roommate and I failed miserably to open a bottle of sparkling cider at exactly midnight we realized that this year was going to be one full of laughter and determination. So you can expect to hear much more from me soon. Stay tuned this Friday I will properly introduce myself and what exactly I plan to do as artist.
